Position: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II - 2ND SHIFT (RSL)

Overview

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II-2ND SHIFT role at Now Foods.

Location:

Elk Grove Village, IL.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installs, operates, maintains, repairs, lubricates, and troubleshoots complex equipment in the facility such as Dematic conveying system, automatic pallet wrapper, case erectors, gear boxes, variable speed drives, pumps and compressors, etc.
  • Performs predictive and preventative maintenance activities as outline in the CMMS system.
  • Installs, maintains, and trouble-shoots all types of AC and DC electrical equipment. Familiar with PLC, solid state, and servo control.
  • Fabricates components using standard shop equipment including: lathe, mill, drill press, brake, shear, band saw, and various welding equipment.
  • Operates equipment to troubleshoot and validates completed maintenance activity.
  • Assists Engineering in installation of new equipment. Works from drawings, verbal instructions and/or sketches.
  • Helps maintain shop areas and parts room to ensure they are clean and orderly.
  • Actively participates in root cause analysis and other plant continuous improvement initiatives. Recommends and implements continuous improvement ideas.
  • Partners with technical support, Roselle operations group, and peer mechanics to resolve problematic machine or personnel issues.
  • Occasionally performs work in other areas such as building maintenance.
  • Helps maintain spare parts inventory for facility by checking out parts form parts room, using parts ordering procedure, and restocking inventory.
  • Follows (LOTO) all Safety procedures and wears all personal protective equipment as directed by Company Safety Policy.
  • Completes required paperwork truthfully, accurately and timely.
  • Complies with safety requirements, GMP requirements, and SOPs/WIs for work area.

Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment when required. Participates on safety teams and/or completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Associate s degree (A.

    A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or training (electrical, machine shop, machine troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, lock-out/tag-out, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of electric, welding and machine shop required.
  • Food or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical test equipment such as digital multimeter, amp probe, megger, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical blueprints, use simple shop math, and possess knowledge of company, local, state, and federal electrical codes.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively to coworkers and supervisors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, addition, subtraction, multiplication, decimals, and measurements.

REASONING ABILITY

Excellent Problem Solving Skills Required.
