In this job, you’ll be responsible for leading multi‑disciplinary environmental technical review teams, including external consultants, to plan, permit, and construct major infrastructure projects. Owning the responsibility for large, complex, environmental documents is in your comfort zone, including quality assurance, client management, schedule and budget management, and team coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Recommend and implement appropriate actions to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, serving as a liaison with external and governmental agencies or internal business partners
  • Develop, manage, implement and improve compliance/business processes, standards, procedures, training, and operational plans that advance business strategies with an impact on work group results
  • Evaluate and assess environmental risk and collaborate in developing and implementing programs for risk reduction and mitigation
  • Conduct comprehensive environmental inspections and self‑assessments, maintaining accurate compliance records
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal partners and external agencies to facilitate effective communications and collaboration
  • Demonstrate project management skills to oversee and coordinate various environmental initiatives and ensure timely completion
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare related reports and studies for submission to regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity
Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience in environmental and/or related compliance field and/or permitting
  • Valid Class C driver’s license required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in urban planning, environmental studies, or related subject area
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with regulatory compliance and permitting such as CEQA/NEPA, Endangered Species Act and Clean Water Act, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) General Order 131‑D, for a variety of development projects
  • Geographic Information System (GIS) experience
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to present complex technical information in an easily understandable format and context
  • Demonstrate strong ethics, influencing and negotiation skills, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to handle stress and engage in continuous learning
  • Project Management certification
  • Experience working with state and federal land management agencies (e.g., U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, California State Parks, etc.) and the CPUC
  • Two (2) or more years of project support or management activities such as tracking project details, schedules, budgets, invoices, and interacting with internal/external clients
  • Utility industry experience
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners, cross‑functional project teams, peers, all levels of management, and external stakeholders
