About the Role
Reasons Eating Disorder Center (Reasons) is seeking candidate professionals, preferably with previous experience working with eating disorders, trauma, substance use and LGBTQIA+ communities to provide compassionate care to both adult and adolescent patients in the inpatient eating disorder program at BHC Alhambra Hospital.
BHC Alhambra Hospital is located in the beautiful city of Rosemead, California. Our 115‑bed facility, established in 1924, is a private, fully accredited, full‑service acute psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. It offers inpatient, residential, partial‑hospitalization and intensive‑outpatient options for individuals in the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.
ResponsibilitiesThe Program Therapist performs functions to include assisting both adult and adolescent patients in meeting their bio‑psychosocial needs while enabling them to access therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health.
Responsibilities include:
- Formulate and conduct educational, therapeutic, and/or support groups for adults and adolescents.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, health‑care team members and community providers regarding patient status and progress.
- Interact and communicate with patients, families, outpatient providers, community agencies in assessment of and service to patients.
- Provide liaison and referral services to community agencies and appear in court when requested or subpoenaed.
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with professional ethics according to professional and facility standards.
- Education: Master’s Degree required from an accredited college or university, in Psychology, Marriage/Family Therapy, Social Work or a related mental‑health field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills. Experience with eating‑disorder populations is preferred; specialized education and training may be acceptable.
- License: Program Therapist must be masters prepared or higher; license is not required.
- Additional Requirements: May be required to work flexible hours and overtime. Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.
