Working under the direction of an RN, LVN, or LPT, the Mental Health Worker is an active part of the treatment team and provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to eating disorder patients. Daily responsibilities include:
- Accurately administer and record vital signs;
- Observe, assess, and document a resident’s appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals;
- Effectively and professionally communicate with the clinical team, staff, patients, and customers;
- Utilize sound judgment while observing patients and document any changes in a patient’s appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals;
- Ensure intervention is based on the patient’s plan of care;
- Employ appropriate crisis intervention techniques as needed;
- Transport patients to medical appointments, outings, or to the facility;
- Provide positive transportation experience and treat all patients with respect and dignity at all times;
- Open vehicle doors for each patient and assist the patient into and out of the vehicle.
- Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: One (1) year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric resident care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred.
- Driver’s License: Must possess and maintain a valid California driver license.
