BHC Alhambra Hospital is a 115‑bed facility established in 1924. It is a private, fully accredited, full‑service acute psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. The hospital offers quality behavioral health, substance abuse, and eating disorder treatment options for the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. Emergency services are not provided.
Job Title: Program Specialist II
As a Program Specialist II, you will plan and implement activity services for the assigned program. Your role involves defining and executing treatment goals as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling under the direction of a Recreational Therapist.
Key Responsibilities- Observe and apply sound judgment regarding patient physical and mental needs.
- Document changes in patient appearance, behavior, and progress toward treatment plan goals.
- Communicate patient condition changes to the Charge Nurse or Recreational Therapist.
- Provide assessments related to psychosocial, leisure, and recreational skill development or deficiencies.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in activity therapy, humanities, social work or a related therapeutic discipline preferred; or current enrollment in a Certified Recreational Therapy program, or State‑Approved Activity Director Certification and/or Associate’s Degree in occupational therapy or a related field.
Experience: Minimum two (2) years of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and an understanding of mental illness.
Licensure: Preferred certification by state and/or national governing body in art, recreation, occupation, or music therapy, if applicable.
Additional: Ability to work overtime and flexible hours may be required.
