Qualifications- High school graduation or GED required.
- Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds and stand on a hard surface for 3‑6 hours, with bending, twisting, and repetitive motions.
- Experience in institutional food service operations and/or school food service helpful.
- Must complete Serve Safe course and pass exam with 70% accuracy or higher within 1 year of hire date.
- Previous point‑of‑sale experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete job duties within the contracted hours.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse school community preferred.
- Comply with food service manager's instruction on production, preparation, and service of food.
- Comply with department standards to account for meals (reimbursement and à‑la‑carta sales).
- Maintain kitchen, serving area, cafeteria, and dishroom cleanliness under manager's direction.
- Follow safety standards in handling, preparing, storing, and serving food.
- Process students through breakfast and lunch lines using computerized point‑of‑sale equipment.
- Work efficiently and cooperate with other employees.
- Attend job‑related training classes and workshops.
- Interact with students in a positive and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation / BenefitsHourly pay ranges from $20.23 to $22.74, based on the 2025‑26 contract. Benefits available to new employees effective the first day of active employment include medical, dental, life, long‑term disability, sick leave, state pension plan, tax‑deferred retirement savings account, flexible spending account, and, for some employee groups, vacation, holidays, or personal leave.
