The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Family Friendly Certified Workplace, is seeking a Transition Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (TVRC) Trainee – Senior TVRC to join the Vocational Rehabilitation Department located at 28,000 Southwest Frwy, Rosenberg, TX. This position will serve a caseload of Blind Visually Impaired customers. Experience is preferred.

TWC is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those currently on student or postgraduate visas. Candidates must be a Texas resident or willing to relocate to Texas.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide highly complex (senior-level) case management for the mission, goals and values of the Texas Workforce Commission.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound decision making in routine rehabilitation work.
  • For students with disabilities, provide quality Transition Services, including eligibility determination and placement planning.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources, businesses, employers, and schools.
  • Collect and analyze information necessary for accurate eligibility decisions (medical, psychological, school, employment records).
  • Assist students in choosing employment by matching strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities and interests to the job market.
  • Partner with local education agencies and families to support academic, work, and life skills for independence.
  • Collaborate with students to develop a plan of services to achieve employment goals.
  • Provide opportunities for career exploration and employment experiences.
  • Maintain student records and perform case‑load management.
  • Ensure timely, cost‑effective services and progress toward employment goals.
  • Develop and implement a process leading to successful job placement for students.
  • Develop referral sources and maintain resource information for blind or visually impaired students.
  • Build relationships with regional employment specialists and business relation specialists to provide career exploration experiences.
  • Apply best‑value purchasing practices and use comparable benefits and services to ensure effective use of public funds.
  • Account for case service expenditures and service delivery to maintain adherence to funding directives.
  • Act as team leader for assigned support staff when required.
