Preconstruction Cost Estimator | Roseville

ROSEVILLE, CA | ESTIMATING | Full Time

ZCON Builders is looking for a Preconstruction Cost Estimator to join our team. This position requires five years’ experience in cost estimating and the ability to perform estimates for multifamily, high-density, mixed-use, and commercial projects ranging from $2M to $150M. The Estimator must have the ability to perform quantity takeoffs from construction documents including plans and specifications, progress drawings, conceptual sketches, and design narratives.

This position will work closely with the Vice President of Estimating & Project Management to obtain accurate and up-to-date pricing information from databases, contractors and suppliers to utilize in their estimates.

• Perform quantity takeoffs based on a variety of information including plans and specifications, progress drawings, conceptual sketches, and design narratives
• Develop budget estimates using plans and specifications, or other conceptual information
• Review project documents and coordinate with the team to confirm complete scope
• Solicit subcontractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers for information and pricing
• Review and identify constructability issues with operations staff
• Value Engineering(VE)
• Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs
• Analyze alternate means and methods to determine the most economical approach

• Strong Conceptual Estimating & Preconstruction background experience estimating high-density, multi-family, and commercial projects
• Five years of commercial estimating experience
• Fundamental understanding of construction phasing and organization of building components
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications with attention to detail
• Knowledge of the construction market including pricing conventions and trends
• Work independently and as team leader/member
• Organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and positive team attitude
• Ability to manage time and workload to meet critical deadlines
• Experience in utilizing:
  • Microsoft Office Suites:
    Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook
  • Scheduling Software:
    Microsoft Project, Primavera
  • Estimating Software:
    On-Screen Take Off, Smart Bid Net
  • AutoCAD, BIM, Plan Grid
• Ability to multitask and work multiple projects concurrently
