We are seeking enthusiastic educators to join our team! The Teacher’s Assistant is responsible for supporting the lead teacher in ensuring the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include toddlers and/or preschool age children. Must be willing and able to maintain control of the classroom in all aspects in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
Teacher’s assistant should also be familiar with and adhere to all compliance with codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies are being met.
Responsibilities:
Assist lead teachers in planning, designing and implementing curriculumProvide assistance in preparing lesson plansImpart classroom instruction in accordance to lesson plansSupervise and control students during class and when the lead teacher is not presentAssist students with carrying out classroom activitiesAssist students during lunch timeObserve students for developmental issues and communicate findings to lead teachersImplement age appropriate activities and monitor safety throughoutResearch information for lesson developmentCommunicate progress and observations to parentsMaintain student records and perform other clerical tasksHelp in maintaining a clean and organized classroomEnsure sanitation of all surfaces, equipment and toysAssist students in social skills developmentAssist in putting up bulletinsAccompany young students to the bathroomOperate equipment such as projectors and computers for instructional purposesMaintain appropriate classroom discipline and decorumPrepare and distribute worksheetsEnsure that students retain information by repeating information constantly and practicing patienceDeliver instruction in the absence of lead teacherComplete assigned daily cleaning tasks for the center overallSkills & Abilities:
Early Child Development knowledge and experience.Knowledge in Desired Results, Developmental Appropriate Practices.Knowledge of State Subsidized Program Requirements for Center Programs.Effective communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition.Ability to use the computer to input developmental data.Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities.Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being.Must be able to manage confidential information.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40 pound child.All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children and adolescents who are served by our agency. Therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate role modeling.
