Job Description

This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on designing tooling and automation equipment, including welding fixtures, assembly systems, engine transmission systems, conveyor systems, and material handling solutions. You will use 3D design tools to create, detail, and check mechanical designs while contributing to a growing, family-oriented organization that values a growth mindset and the ability to wear multiple hats.

Responsibilities

+ Design, detail, and check tooling equipment such as welding fixtures, assembly systems, engine transmission systems, conveyor systems, and material handling equipment.

+ Develop and refine mechanical designs using Inventor, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and alignment with project requirements.

+ Apply mechanical aptitude to solve design challenges and improve the performance and reliability of automation and machinery systems.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams in controls, design, and manufacturing to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into complete systems.

+ Support the development of automation and machinery solutions, especially when experience is under three years, by leveraging knowledge of automation principles.

+ Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, models, and specifications for tooling and mechanical systems.

+ Review and check designs for quality, functionality, and compliance with project standards and customer expectations.

+ Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by proposing enhancements to tooling, automation equipment, and design processes.

+ Adapt to changing project needs and take on varied responsibilities, demonstrating the ability to wear multiple hats in a dynamic environment.

Essential Skills

+ Minimum of 3 years of experience designing tooling equipment, including welding fixtures, assembly systems, engine transmission systems, conveyor systems, and material handling equipment; candidates with 1 year or less of experience must demonstrate strong knowledge of automation.

+ Proficiency in Inventor for mechanical design and detailing.

+ Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand complex machinery and tooling systems.

+ Experience in automation and machinery design.

+ Ability to design, detail, and check mechanical tooling and equipment independently.

+ Capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment that includes controls, design, and manufacturing teams.

+ Growth mindset with the willingness and ability to take on diverse responsibilities and wear multiple hats.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Roseville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
