Responsibilities- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance.
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
- Replaces defective components as instructed; works unsupervised on most tasks.
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task.
- Uses shop management system and electronic documentation; complies with all safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
- Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels; accesses internal and external maintenance documents.
- Performs facility maintenance duties and other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).
- Targeted training and certifications as indicated by location fleet requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or Technical Certification or Post-Secondary degree preferred; required certifications as location dictates.
- Basic tools required; 2+ years of relevant experience preferred, including mechanical repairs on heavy- and medium-duty equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs (including AC and electrical systems).
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire may be required.
- Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check (including prior 3 years of driving history).
- Must drive Ryder vehicles as part of the role.
