• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
• Replaces defective components as instructed; works unsupervised on most tasks.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task.
• Uses shop management system and electronic documentation; complies with all safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
• Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels; accesses internal and external maintenance documents.
• Performs facility maintenance duties and other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).
• Targeted training and certifications as indicated by location fleet requirements.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification or Post-Secondary degree preferred; required certifications as location dictates.
• Basic tools required; 2+ years of relevant experience preferred, including mechanical repairs on heavy- and medium-duty equipment.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs (including AC and electrical systems).
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire may be required.
• Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check (including prior 3 years of driving history).
• Must drive Ryder vehicles as part of the role.
