The Metro Staff Trainer is responsible for facilitating training to a wide range of audiences. We are seeking someone who is engaging and could bring life, excitement and energy into the classroom!

Purpose of this position: provide support, direction and coordination for the delivery of new worker and new supervisor foundation training, and as needed, specialized social worker, and resource family training.

  • Consult on development and delivery of social worker, supervisor and resource family curricula content that reflects department policy, state and federal laws and regulations, and best practice standards consistent with the Child Welfare Practice Model and the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) Trainer Competencies.
  • Participate in personal development through the MNCWTA Trainer Academy.
  • Participate in development and delivery of the MNCWTA Trainer Academy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide MN Child Welfare Foundation Training and New Supervisor Training to county and tribal staff.
  • Ensure that social worker/supervisor/resource family training delivery uses the latest information on adult learning, transfer of learning theories, meets MNCWTA Trainer Competencies and is delivered using a variety of training modalities, including technology‑based delivery methods.
  • Provide consultation and subject matter expertise to MNCWTA Curriculum Development and Research and Evaluation Teams.
  • Provide other support, as needed, to support the mission, vision, commitments and values of the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy and the Child Safety & Permanency Division and DCYF.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years professional experience in a public child welfare agency (county or tribal) providing child protection services directly to children and families.
  • Experience must demonstrate one or more of the following:
    • Familiarity with federal and state law relating to child protection or child welfare.
