Overview
The outside sales representative is responsible for selling corporate products or services through the achievement of opportunity-based sales quotas. The outside sales representative will reach business targets through effective management of designated territories and physical visits to customer sites. This individual will develop ongoing, profitable relationships with customers and maintain a professional image of the company. Integrity, passion, and in-person presentation skills are essential for this role.
Responsibilities- Perform professional presentations or demonstrations of company product(s)/service(s) while on-site.
- Penetrate all targeted accounts and radiate sales from within client base.
- Overcome objections of prospective customers.
- Emphasize product/service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales order forms and/or reports.
- Build and foster a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth.
- Generate and develop new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold calling if necessary.
- Ensure follow-up by passing leads to Account Managers with calls-to-action, dates, complete profile information, sources, and so on.
- Maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company positively. Manage call schedule to cover the assigned territory efficiently.
- Use marketing data and applicable sales management software tools to maximize sales efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records, including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, billing invoices, and other documentation.
- Assist in creating RFP responses to potential clients.
- Work with a CRM program to generate weekly call reports and travel plans.
- Prepare the annual marketing plan while coordinating with the overall company and market strategy from Supervisor.
- Education:
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience:
Minimum one to two years related experience in sales and customer service. - Skills & Abilities:
Ability to solve problems, provide excellent client service, communicate effectively, maintain quality standards, plan and organize work, adapt to changes, be dependable, promote safety and security, and use computer tools (Excel, Word, CRM) as a plus.
- Contact with others:
Provides routine information company-wide and handles inquiries. Maintains confidentiality. - Supervision Received:
Minimal daily supervision with defined goals and procedures; task prioritization and independent work with periodic review. - Working Conditions:
General office environment with normal safety precautions. Frequent use of computers. Ability to lift boxes of 10-50 pounds.
