Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant - Growing Firm of Chartered Accountants Strixton, Northamptonshire £28,000 - £30,000  Study Support & Benefits Butler Rose Public Practice is delighted to be partnering with a reputable and expanding accountancy firm based in Strixton, Northamptonshire, in their search for a Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and detail-oriented individual to support a Director in managing a portfolio of clients receiving outsourced finance services.

You'll gain hands-on experience across bookkeeping, management accounts, and VAT, while developing strong client relationships and progressing your accounting career in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership of a dedicated client portfolio Assist with bookkeeping and client financial record keeping, increasingly through cloud-based software. Assist with the preparation of monthly accounts, payroll, and VAT returns for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. Support the preparation of management accounts and other ad hoc reports as required by clients. Provide administrative support and help ensure the smooth running of client workflows.

Visit clients on-site as required. With training, assist in preparing year-end working papers and accounts from client records. Contribute to providing excellent client service and timely completion of work.

Key Requirements:

MUST HAVE experience in an accountancy practice environment (minimum 3 years) AAT Level 3  qualified or near completion Competent using accounting packages such as Sage, Quick Books, or Xero. An interest or background in the agricultural/rural or sustainability sector is desirable but not essential. Strong academic background (minimum B grade or equivalent in Maths and English). Organised, proactive, and eager to grow in a client-facing accounting role.
