Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Rawtenstall.
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:50am – 3:30pm.
Pay: £13.75 – £15.00 per hour (dependent on experience).
Start Date: ASAP.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Rawtenstall on a full-time basis.

The provision supports children with a range of additional needs. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place and require individualised support to access learning. Some pupils may require personal care as part of their daily routine.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes in line with EHCP targets
  • Assist with social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Promote independence and positive engagement in learning
  • Support with personal care where required

An SEN Teaching Assistant plays a key role in removing barriers to learning, helping pupils build confidence, develop life skills, and reach their individual potential.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • A background in care, support work, residential care, or youth work
  • Personal experience supporting individuals with additional needs
  • Previous experience within an educational setting (desirable)
  • A degree in Education or a related field (encouraged but not essential)
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
