SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEN School
Location: Rochdale
Salary: 90 - 100 per day
Contract: Full-time Long-Term
Start Date: Immediate

A highly popular and well-resourced SEN school in Rochdale is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their thriving school community immediately. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a cohesive and supportive staff team within a setting that places student wellbeing, inclusion and progress at the heart of everything they do.

The school supports students aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including ASC, PMLD, visual impairment (VI), hearing impairment (HI) and complex learning difficulties. Staff work collaboratively to create a structured, nurturing and engaging learning environment where every student is supported to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students on a 1:1 and small group basis throughout the school day, helping them to access learning and develop independence.

  • Supporting students with EHCPs across lessons and activities
  • Assisting with supervision, personal care and welfare where required
  • Working closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning activities
  • Encouraging engagement, communication and positive behaviour
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
  • Supporting students' academic, social and emotional development

The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience with in a specialist school, education or care setting
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
  • Patience, resilience and a nurturing manner
  • A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or a Psychology-related degree (desirable)
