At Belmont, we're looking for an ambitious and inspiring Deputy Headteacher
- Curriculum to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in the continued development of our school.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented leader who is passionate about creating an ambitious, inclusive and engaging curriculum that enables pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to achieve meaningful academic and personal progress.

Working closely with the Headteacher, you'll take strategic responsibility for curriculum development, teaching and learning, assessment and progress. You'll have the opportunity to influence practice across the school, develop our teachers and middle leaders and ensure every pupil benefits from high-quality learning experiences designed around their individual needs.

You won't simply oversee the curriculum-you'll have the opportunity to shape it, strengthen it and inspire the people delivering it.

What you'll be doing

As Deputy Headteacher
- Curriculum, you'll play a key role in shaping teaching, learning and pupil outcomes across the school. You'll:

• Lead the school's curriculum strategy, ensuring an ambitious, inclusive and personalised curriculum that meets the needs of pupils with SEMH.
• Drive high standards of teaching and learning, using quality assurance, observations and learning walks to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
• Lead assessment and progress tracking, using pupil data to identify trends, inform interventions and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and coach teachers, subject leaders and support staff, creating a culture of high expectations, collaboration and professional development.
• Lead curriculum planning and organisation, including curriculum pathways, the whole-school timetable and effective use of staffing and resources.
• Line manage key leaders, including Subject Leaders, Assistant Head
  - Inclusion and Assistant Head
  - Outcomes, providing support, challenge and strategic direction.
• Lead examination arrangements from the 2026/27 academic year, ensuring internal and external examinations, access arrangements and regulatory requirements are effectively managed.
• Work alongside the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team on whole-school improvement, self-evaluation, budgets and strategic priorities, helping drive the continued success of the school.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an accomplished education professional who combines strategic thinking with visible, supportive leadership.

You'll need:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ PGCE
• Significant successful teaching and leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge and experience of curriculum design and development.
• A proven ability to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
• Strong understanding of assessment, pupil progress and data analysis.
• The ability to coach, challenge and inspire teachers and leaders.
• Excellent organisational, communication and strategic leadership skills.
• A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEMH needs.
• The ability to build positive and productive relationships with pupils, colleagues, families and external professionals.
• A full UK Driving Licence

It would be advantageous if you also have:

• NPQSL, NPQH or an equivalent leadership qualification.
• Experience with in a specialist education or alternative provision setting.
• Experience leading PSHE and/or RSE.
• Experience developing and managing a whole-school timetable.
