As a Material Handling Engineer
, you will contribute technical leadership to multidisciplinary projects that support safer, more efficient, and sustainable mining, metals and industrial infrastructure systems.
Location:
Any one of our British Columbia offices.
- Design and develop material handling systems including conveyors, cranes, hoists, automated storage, and bulk material systems.
- Translate operational requirements into engineered solutions, layouts, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate material handling solutions into broader facility and infrastructure designs.
- Support project delivery through calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Apply industry standards, codes, and best practices to deliver compliant, high‑quality solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers.
- Engage directly with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance project delivery.
- University Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- At least 15 years of experience designing and engineering material handling systems for mining and heavy industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of conveyors, lifting equipment, automated systems, or bulk material handling.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada or eligibility to obtain one.
- Proven experience solving real‑world engineering challenges from equipment specification to system design and integration.
- Comfortable working in the field or onsite as needed and adherence to all safety requirements.
- Working proficiency with mechanical design and modeling tools and a commitment to continuous learning.
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800
- MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $111,000 – $147,400
Salary may vary based on education, experience, skill and location.
