The Regional Inventory Specialist (RIS) supports a market or region by executing operational tasks to positively influence inventory availability for our customers, as well as inventory turns for the business. The RIS reports to the Senior Regional Inventory Manager and partners closely with branch resources in the region they support. In addition to daily tasks, the RIS delivers year‑round training to branch associates and reinforces concepts on inventory planning and replenishment to make branch teams more efficient and successful in serving end customers.
The RIS must demonstrate exceptional customer service, analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Finally, the RIS serves as the point of contact for the region they support, ensuring inventory parameters are properly maintained and reviewed on a regular cadence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Finance, or similar
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in forecasting, demand planning, or replenishment; other areas within Supply Chain are also acceptable
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for providing excellent customer service
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working with Blue Yonder planning software (Demand and Fulfillment) is a plus
- Experience using very large data sets and performing analysis preferred
- Proficient capability using MS Excel
- Support the Regional team by:
- Addressing branch replenishment questions, including delegation to other support teams as needed
- Researching issues with replenishment or forecasting and prescribing actions to address them
- Coordinating, attending, and supporting the delivery of training with the regional team and Senior Regional Inventory Manager (typically on‑site at the branch)
- Educating branch resources on inventory management process and procedure in every interaction (as needed)
- Uploading changes to assortments and enabling discussions between assortment leaders and sales associates
- Coordinating bi‑weekly area‑level update meetings and preparing inventory reports for discussion
- Attending in‑market visits to provide on‑site support for operational and inventory management procedures (quarterly or semi‑annually, depending on need)
- Required travel: 10%
- Execute actions to meet regional In‑Stock and Inventory Turns goals
- Assist Senior Regional Inventory Manager with proactive review and correction of forecasting errors on a weekly basis
- Participate in regular review of out‑of‑stock root causes and help execute activities to reduce stockouts
- Review and maintain inventory parameters (consignment, presentation quantities, freeze codes, etc.) on a regular cadence
- Identify top opportunities to reduce excess inventory and partner with Senior Regional Inventory Manager and field leaders to define a reduction strategy
