We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Test Engineer to join our Engineering Group in Roswell, GA. This role will be responsible for technical ownership of gas turbine engine and subsystem testing. You will be the subject matter expert on all PBS Engine model test procedures, and the owner of development test assets and procedures. You will work in close cooperation with members of the Engineering Group and other PBS Aerospace Divisions, including supporting Manufacturing Operations with production testing scopes, existing customers performing development flight testing, or New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for PBS Aerospace engine operability and testing capabilities at PBS Aerospace’s on-site test cells
- Develop, maintain, and improve tools and processes associated with evaluating and post-processing engine test data
- Lead the development and execution of test plans for propulsion systems for the purposes of investigation, new component qualification, process validation, or optimization. These could include Sea‑Level Static or specialized simulated altitude and flight condition tests at deployed test locations
- Serve as customer’s main POC as they undergo engine integration and vehicle flight testing campaigns, or require troubleshooting including replication of operability anomalies in PBSA Test Facilities or occasional on‑site support
- Own new testing component design or modification of existing testing component designs, flow benches, test fixtures, etc. including product definition, relevant analysis, manufacturing, and validation testing
- Assist Engineering Leadership in evaluating and establishing the company’s Technology Roadmap as it pertains to engine development and testing capabilities to assure PBS Aerospace remains at the forefront of gas turbine propulsion systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline (advanced degree preferred).
- 7+ years of industry experience with Gas Turbines, with 5+ years of hands‑on test environment experience and designing/operating fluid and mechanical systems
- Expertise in testing instrumentation and measurement techniques, including designing and/or applying instrumentation to Unit Under Test (UUT) or test setups
- Knowledge of drafting best practices – GD&T in accordance with ASME Standards
- Demonstrated experience leading Propulsion Test best practices through review processes – Test Concept Reviews (TCR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), etc.
- Strong engineering first principles related to turbo machinery design, operation and typical failure modes. Demonstrated ability to think critically and problem solve to achieve solutions.
- Knowledge of Turbine Engine Control Units (ECUs), Full Authority Digital Engine Controller (FADEC) and relevant communication protocols
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as multi-tasking abilities, strong analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills

- Experience and familiarity with defense industry standards and designing propulsion systems for aerospace and defense platforms (eg. MIL-STD)
- CAN Aerospace communication protocols
- Experience with aviation fuels (JetA, JP-8, JP-10) and other hazardous operations experience
- Electrical systems design and operational experience, both for testing infrastructure and engine component testing
