Lead Process Scientist – Kimberly‑Clark
In This RoleWe are looking for a highly motivated Lead Materials Scientist to join the Sustainability Moonshot & Breakthrough Materials Team focused on emerging biomaterial nonwovens. The role will support the development of nonwoven process parameters and specifications for novel biomaterials used in Baby & Child Care products. This position is headquartered in Roswell, GA and reports to the Director of Sustainability Moonshot & Breakthrough Materials.
Responsibilities- Work closely with Materials SMEs to identify novel biomaterials for nonwoven applications.
- Drive biomaterial processing trials to meet or create specifications for product performance requirements.
- Partner with Category & Product leaders to establish product specification requirements.
- Document learning and report to stakeholders, establishing new intellectual assets such as disclosures and patents.
- Work effectively with cross‑functional teams such as category, materials, operations, quality, product safety, regulatory, and manufacturing teams.
- Plan and carry out project responsibilities with limited assistance and direction.
- Communicate and document project plans and results to key stakeholders.
- Develop robust timelines, budgets, and resource forecasts.
- Support qualification or commercialization activities for formulated products.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or materials science from an accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of experience in a variety of technical assignments.
- 2+ years of experience in nonwoven processing with manufacturing/scale‑up exposure.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects within required time frames.
- Strong project leadership capabilities and communication/stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of regulated and formulated product qualification and validation processes with external contract manufacturers.
- Strong knowledge and background in nonwoven manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge and experience in personal care products, particularly baby wipes.
- Demonstrated ability to solve business challenges and partner with internal or external manufacturing facilities.
- Familiarity with product development processes (e.g., stage gate, rapid learning cycles).
- Experience working cross‑functionally with business unit marketing and manufacturing.
- Understanding of Kimberly‑Clark products, procedures, and processes.
- General knowledge and practice of project management and stakeholder management skills.

Salary RangeUSD 85,540 – 105,620 (US locations only). Estimated total rewards include base pay, target bonus, 401(k) and Profit Sharing.
