Underwriting Specialist – E&S
PURE Insurance – Underwriting Team, reporting to the Regional Underwriting Manager. Primary goal:
Profitably grow an E&S book of business by partnering with brokers and working with colleagues across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Business Management:
Planning and budgeting for the book, tracking and reporting performance, analyzing market conditions and competitive landscape. - Broker Partnership:
Developing, maintaining, and managing key broker relationships; creating strategies and goals, tracking progress, positioning PURE within brokers, including:- Deliver exceptional, timely, complete and accurate service to brokers.
- Develop trusted, respected and lasting relationships.
- Work with brokers to craft best solutions for their clients.
- Share knowledge and best practices.
- Underwrite empathetically at all times.
- Underwriting Execution:
Responsible for new and renewal underwriting execution, selecting risks aligned with PURE’s E&S strategy and guidelines, operating within authority and documentation guidelines, following up on accounts and closing new business. - Underwriting Referrals:
Deliver excellent referral service to junior Underwriters and assist in their development. - Franchise Management:
Command of book of E&S business, identify and address profitability and growth issues, implement effective profit improvement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum 7 years high net worth underwriting experience.
- Demonstrated technical expertise and product‑specific knowledge.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in sales and marketing.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external partners, including brokers.
- Experience developing and executing marketing plans and prospects.
- Creative and adaptable in a changing business environment.
- Sound, balanced, and timely decision‑making skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business‑related software.
Base salary: $95,000 – $115,000 (full‑time). Compensation varies based on skills, experience, geography, and market data.
