Job Summary

Under the general direction of the physician and/or office manager, the Nurse Supervisor provides nursing care of patients, plans and oversees departmental staff nursing activities, and ensures effective nursing services. The Nurse Supervisor promotes clinical competency, maintains clinical quality control through survey readiness efforts, and leads an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care guided by the Well Star Professional Practice Model, 5‑Star Nursing, and evidence‑based practice.

Core

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) in clinical care using evidence‑based practice.
  • Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that reflects cultural diversity and adapts to population‑specific characteristics.
  • Partner with patients and significant others through huddles, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching to keep goals central to the plan of care.
  • Practice current clinical standards, coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
  • Complete professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific training.
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses (and unlicensed staff or students) to build a qualified workforce.
  • Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement activities; participate in value analysis and data collection for advanced evidence‑based practice.
  • Plan for the care of patients across the continuum; develop protocols and procedures in collaboration with Practice Managers and Clinical Services.
  • Support efficient use of human and material resources; maintain professional standards, legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead staff recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and professional development; ensure compliance with organizational policies and nursing standards.
  • Drive back‑office clinical quality initiatives and survey readiness; serve as a practice safety coach in cooperation with Clinical Services.
Required

Minimum Education
  • Associates in Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) OR Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
Required Minimum Licensure and Certification
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – Single State or RN‑Compact (Multi‑state Compact)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) or ARC‑BLS, or BLS‑I (Basic Life Support – Instructor)
Additional Licensure and Certification
  • Current/active RN license in Georgia
  • Current BLS card from the American Heart Association (required upon hire)
  • ACLS/PALS may be required, depending on practice area
Required Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice setting; 1 year as an RN or LPN also considered.
  • Experience supervising or leading a nursing or clinical team (preferred).
  • Specific practice specialty experience preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
  • Implementation of national nursing standards and health‑care procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and human‑relations skills.
  • High attention to detail, time‑management, delegation, and team‑building.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency and technology support for clinical care.
  • Adherence to the Well Star Credo and Code of Conduct.
