, a practice partner of Together Women’s Health is seeking a PRN Pre-Op/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse. The Pre-Op/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role includes pre-operative assessment, patient preparation, and post-operative recovery, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and continuity of care in accordance with established protocols and nursing standards.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments prior to surgery, including medical history review, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
- Ensure informed consent and pre-op checklists are completed.
- Start IVs and administer pre-operative medications as ordered.
- Communicate with surgical and anesthesia teams to coordinate patient care.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families.
- Monitor and manage patients emerging from anesthesia in the PACU.
- Assess airway, breathing, circulation, level of consciousness, pain, and surgical site.
- Administer post-op medications, including pain management and antiemetics.
- Identify and respond to potential post-anesthesia complications promptly.
- Educate patients and families regarding discharge instructions or ongoing recovery.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in GA.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care, emergency, pre-op, or PACU setting.
