General purpose:
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate greets customers, maintains a clean work area, ensures proper merchandise presentation, and performs a range of tasks across store areas as needed to meet customer service and operational goals. The associate may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations.

Essential Functions- Safety and awareness: maintain a safe shopping environment, keep exits clear, and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Customer service: greet customers, assist with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably, and handle customer issues with courtesy; respond promptly to service calls and escalate to leadership when needed.
- Brand representation: support and represent the Ross brand at all times.
- Cleaning and maintenance: perform cleaning tasks and replenish restroom supplies to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
- Appearance and standards: maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code; ensure neat, organized store presentation and recover/size as directed to standards.
- Merchandise flow: expedite new merchandise to the sales floor, merchandise items per guidelines, and maintain merchandise/brand name familiarity within departments to assist customers.
- Loss prevention and policies: understand loss prevention programs and MOS policies; follow cash, check, charge, refund transactions, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.

- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds (some roles may involve heavier lifting).
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts may require lifting up to 20 pounds regularly.
