KeyholderResponsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns courteously, assist guests with their gaming needs, inform them about special promotions and the trade‑in program, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during each transaction, and express gratitude for each visit.
- Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process purchases and returns accurately via the POS computer system, ensuring top‑notch guest service.
- Address guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, answering calls promptly and professionally.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as the new title reservations program and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Ensure all store areas, including restrooms, are clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines; maintain fixtures and equipment in proper working order.
- Complete Omni‑Channel orders daily.
- Safeguard company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and bank deposit procedures.
- Conduct inventory counts, restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures, and move products from the stock room to the sales floor to ensure proper representation and organization.
- Support management in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals accurately in the POS; prepare closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips; assist with cash management.
- Check shipments for discrepancies, report shortages to the appropriate manager, and record any discrepancies in the POS.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly and accurately, labeling boxes and including packing lists.
- Visually inspect associates’ and leaders’ packages or belongings at closing or at shift end.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management.
- Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures.
- Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback to management.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional guest service skills.
- Genuine and friendly assistance to every guest during each visit.
- Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills, both in person and on the phone; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Meet associate performance expectations, including attendance, professional dress, and grooming.
- Operate the POS computer system and complete required paperwork.
- Basic math and alphabetizing skills.
- Self‑motivation and teamwork to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Problem‑solving skills and judgment.
- Follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
- Deliver bank deposits following loss‑prevention safety guidelines.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days per week).
- Remain effective under pressure and handle stress appropriately.
- Perform physical tasks: bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, lift merchandise up to 30 lbs from ground level to at least 4 feet.
- Stand and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
