Lifeguard Specialist – Camp Kingfisher at Chattahoochee Nature Center, Inc.

The Lifeguard Specialist leads the safe implementation of the swimming program for campers at Camp Kingfisher. Lifeguards are also responsible for overseeing six swimming periods per day, maintaining pool facilities, and fulfilling additional specialist duties at camp.

All staff at Camp Kingfisher are hired to:

• Lead campers as a positive, caring role model
• Provide campers with fun, positive outdoor learning experiences
• Help campers grow and learn through challenges

• Maintain high standards of safety, health, and cleanliness during all activities in the pool area
• Implement and supervise all aspects of the pool program for campers from pre‑K through 9th grade
• Administer swim tests and efficiently communicate pool rules and expectations
• Perform water testing and monitor chemical levels
• Create and lead programs for times when the pool is closed
• Support program areas such as aftercare, waterfront, all camp activities, and any other areas as directed
• Substitute as a counselor as needed
• Clean pool and camp facilities daily
• Attend weekly camp staff and specialist meetings
• Complete additional duties as assigned
• Lifeguard for 2‑4 after‑hours camp programs such as camper late night
• Prepare and deliver rain plans during inclement weather
• Contribute to verbal/written evaluations and communication as requested
• Keep track of and record hours worked, requesting the director’s approval for any additional hours prior to work

• Willingness to work outdoors during the summer season
• Must be able to lift and carry a canoe
• Valid driver’s license or state‑issued

• Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification (course provided)
• Current First Aid/CPR certification (course provided)
• Experience (and passion for) teaching or working with children
• Ability to adhere to and enforce Camp Kingfisher’s water safety procedures
• Background in child care, camps, or prior lifeguarding
