Academic Requirements- Required:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in early childhood education, or a Bachelor’s or advanced degree with equivalent coursework and experience.
- Required:
Experience with children with disabilities and preferred collaboration with community partners.
- Ensure staff, consultants, contractors, and volunteers protect the physical and mental health and safety of children, and no child is left alone or unsupervised.
- Provide ongoing coaching on effective teaching, evaluating classroom environments that promote healthy development aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (Birth‑to‑Five) for all children, including those with disabilities.
- Monitor and evaluate classroom environments and implementation of prescribed curricula to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences in language, literacy, social and emotional development, math, science, social studies, creative arts, and physical development; integrate child assessment data in individual and group planning.
- Monitor compliance with positive adult‑child interactions as measured by the CLASS Pre‑K instrument.
- Implement tools that support screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluation of a child’s developmental level and progress in outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for parents and family members to engage in their child’s development and program services, including parent conferences and group activities.
- Report suspected or known child abuse and neglect promptly; supervise children at all times; keep standards of conduct.
- Complete minimum training requirements specified by state and federal standards.
- Create weekly lesson plans reflecting opportunities for positive adult‑child interactions, including individualized curriculum.
- Schedule regular communication with teaching staff to keep them informed of children’s routine, classroom activities, behavior, and progress.
- Complete required child screenings and assessments on time.
- Organize child files, classroom forms, and other documentation; ensure documents are current and compliant.
- Monitor classroom to ensure it is free from physical and environmental hazards.
- Oversee incident reporting to ensure it occurs within program policy and protocol time frames.
- Evaluate implementation of curricula, equipment, supplies, and physical space for indoor and outdoor learning environments.
- Share data used to monitor quality of instruction and classroom environments; recommend professional development.
- Identify potential developmental barriers and coordinate with education, family, mental health, and child development professionals to address needs.
- Participate in school functions, scheduled meetings, and team decision‑making.
- Collaborate with supervisors, peers, other staff members, service providers, and professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and competence to the cultural and socio‑economic diversity of the service population.
- Communicate in written and verbal English and Spanish (preferred).
- Maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
- Computer literacy sufficient to fulfill responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of all INK policies and procedures.
- Organize and prioritize duties in a fast‑paced environment.
- Work flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Work independently.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Pass health examination.
- Confirm work eligibility status.
- Pass driving history check.
- Clear criminal background check.
- Lift up to 60 pounds; stand, sit on floor, bend, squat, kneel, lift children.
- Exposed to communicable diseases and other hazards (e.g., cigarette smoke, pets, at‑risk neighborhoods).
- Travel up to 50 % by car, bus, airplane, or train for conferences, meetings, or other duties; occasional overnight travel may be required.
