The Endoscopy Department provides specialist diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, supporting patients throughout their investigative pathway. As a busy, patient focused service, the department relies on efficient administrative processes to ensure clinics, procedure lists, and patient journeys run smoothly.
The Clerical Assistant plays a key role within this environment, offering vital administrative support to both clinical and nonclinical teams. The postholder will be part of a friendly, supportive administrative team that helps maintain high standards of patient care, timely communication, and well coordinated service delivery.
Main duties of the jobAs a Clerical Assistant you will provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service. The role includes handling general office duties such as answering telephone enquiries, managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining accurate records, booking appointments, and supporting the wider team with daytodayadministrative tasks. The postholder will work closely withstaff across the department, demonstrating good communication skills, attention to detail, and a professional, patient focused approach.
This role isvital in helping the service deliver high quality, timely and wellcoordinatedsupport.

Person Specification Experience- Working as part of a team.
- Working under own initiative.
- Working under pressure or to meet targets/deadlines.
- Maintain effective, accurate and efficient office systems.
- GCSE English grade C or equivalent qualification
- Previous training in/use of Trust in-house systems, such as Meditech.
- Knowledge and understanding of what patient confidentiality means.
- Previous clerical experience.
- Understanding of the NHS.
- Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Understanding of Endoscopy.
