Title:

PPE & Operational Equipment Logistics Operative

Contract: Fixed Term Contract - 3 Years (Potential for contract to become permanent pending budget approval)

Salary: Grade 2 (£25,949)

Hours: Full Time - 37 Hours per week;
Flexi Time Scheme – accrue up to 13 extra days off a year (pro‑rata) on top of annual leave.

Location: South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Rotherham Workshops

Work Pattern: Mon – Fri (flexi time)

Key Benefits: 28 days annual leave (pro‑rata) plus Bank Holidays (36 days), increasing with length of service up to 45 days per year; 13 days flexi time; pension scheme; free on‑site gyms; family‑friendly policies; emergency service discounts;

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, store and deliver PPE and operational equipment.
  • Tag and re‑tag PPE and equipment as required.
  • Maintain and update accurate electronic records and inventory levels.
  • Prepare and distribute equipment to stations and departments.
  • Ensure PPE compliance checks, cleaning coordination and repairs.
  • Support audits and stock takes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment.
  • Travel extensively within the service area and visit suppliers as required.
  • Participate in the initial roll‑out and ongoing management of the PPE & asset management system.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a logistics, stores or warehouse environment.
  • Experience using stock control systems and inventory management.
  • Experience handling and distributing PPE & equipment accurately and timely.
  • Experience working within a health and safety regulated environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • IT skills: use of stock systems, email, data entry.
