Overview

As a Project Coordinator, you will support projects that range in scale and duration across different groups in the AMRC. You will provide project coordination and project management support. You will support project teams and be involved in scoping new project work, as well as ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, within budget and on time. Key aspects of your role will be to provide scoping and planning support to projects prior to launch.

During the project lifecycle, the key aspects you manage are the procurement, financial and status progress updates.

You will support the delivery of a defined complex project. You will work on projects managed by a project manager, with support and guidance by a relevant Technical Lead and Technical Fellow. The role will involve periodical travel for on-site meetings, which will largely be domestically in the UK, but could also be international.

For this role, you will need to have strong communication skills allied with organisational ability and enthusiasm. You should have excellent customer service skills and the ability to solve problems creatively. Pragmatism and the ability to understand an issue from both your own organisation and the customers' point of view is also important.

The AMRC are a Corporate Partners of the Association of Project Management (APM). Meaning we continuously train, support and encourage the Project Management team at the AMRC.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Preparing project documentation e.g., cost plans, ordering, timesheets etc.
  • Administration for the running and implementation of projects.
  • Monitor and report on budgets.
  • Inputting, ordering and interrogating finance data.
  • Monthly invoicing and timesheet analysis
  • Timesheet checks and input to bespoke system.
  • Providing administrative support for Project Managers.
  • Makes presentations to management on project updates, project cycle, and expected results.
  • Ensuring that projects are completed on time and in scope.
  • Procurement of goods and services for the team
  • Support and participate in project teams.
  • The ability to develop skills through external or on the job training, suitable to accomplish the project tasks required.
  • Present results to internal and external stakeholders at all levels in a professional and concise manner.
  • Plan and carry out tasks and responsibilities over the short-medium term, with an awareness of longer-term issues. Use discretion to determine priorities and resolve conflicts to allow the team to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other members of the Project Delivery team over work progress.
  • Support planning for short-term projects in own area or contribute to the planning of the group.
  • Plan several months in advance to meet deadlines for AMRC project reports, industrial partner deadlines and to support preparation for presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working alongside the Project Managers to plan and order appropriate tooling, materials and hardware ahead of project requirement.
  • Check that all hardware inventory is present and correctly assembled in advance of project requirement.
  • Work alongside the project team staff to enable smooth transitions of project deliveries.
