Rotherham Council - Kinship Care Assessor (Fostering Service)

Full‑Time | Hybrid | 4‑Month Contract (with possible extension)

Rotherham Council is looking for an experienced Kinship Care Assessor to join their Local Authority Fostering Service. This is a full‑time role, working Monday to Friday, on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

The successful candidate will complete Form K kinship care assessments and present these to the Fostering Panel. Applicants with previous experience using Form C assessments will also be considered.

You will complete assessments both within and outside the local authority, depending on the location of kinship carers.

• Complete full Form K assessments for kinship carers
• Carry out all statutory requirements, including checks, references, and home visits
• Attend placement planning meetings and support locality teams with initial viability visits
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records
• Independently manage workload and deadlines
• Work collaboratively within a busy fostering team
• Attend and contribute to meetings relating to allocated cases

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Social Worker within Children’s and Young People’s Services
• BA in Social Work
• Experience completing Form K or Form C assessments and presenting to Fostering Panel
• Strong communication skills and ability to work flexibly depending on service needs

Initial 4‑month contract, with potential extension for a further 4 months.

Hybrid working (minimum 3 days in office).

• Social Work Qualification – Degree or equivalent
• At least 3 years' experience as a Social Worker within Children’s Services
• Social Work England Registration
• Driving licence and access to own vehicle
