We are inviting applications from enthusiastic and dedicated Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our committed team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking, department offering a comprehensive range of obstetric and gynaecological services. Our role includes patient centred consultant led care, specialist outpatient clinics, general and specialist gynaecology surgery, ambulatory care in obstetrics and gynaecology with opportunities to develop further and all delivered within a supportive and progressive environment.
Main duties of the jobThe combined post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will include:
Providing inpatient and outpatient care in both obstetrics and gynaecology.
Contributing to acute services, theatre sessions, and 1:8 on-call rota commitments.
Supervising junior medical staff and contributing to education and training.
Participating in clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, quality improvement and service development.
The job plan will be discussed and will be subject to periodic review by the Clinical Lead.
You will join a team of 11 Consultants and a range of experienced doctors, midwives, and nurses working together to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.
We welcome applications from candidates who are on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining their CCT/CESR at the time of interview.
Strong clinical experience in both obstetrics and gynaecology.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Enthusiasm for teaching and supporting junior staff.

Job responsibilitiesThe Department
The Medical Staffing establishment of the Department is 11 Consultants, 3 Specialty Doctors, 8 Specialty Registrars (ST3 and above) rotating within the region, 2 ST1/2 trainees and 6 GP Trainees.

The Gynaecological Service
The gynaecological inpatient unit is located on Ward B11. At present, there are 14 beds. Each year we perform:
1900 day case procedures
A full range of gynaecology procedures are provided including advanced laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and urogynaecology surgery, advanced ambulatory procedures and colposcopy. We are a cancer unit offering early stage cancer surgery, with the advanced surgery being performed at our local cancer centres in Sheffield.
