We are working with a supportive and well-established Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Rotherham, catering for pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4. The school supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, Autism, ADHD, and additional learning needs.
The PRU has a strong reputation locally for positively re-engaging pupils with education, and we are now seeking full-time Behaviour Support Workers to join their dedicated team. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in sports coaching, residential care, youth work, mentoring, or similar environments.
Your RoleAs a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across KS1-KS4
- Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
- Support engagement in lessons and alternative learning activities
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to reduce disruption and promote progress
- Use de-escalation strategies and consistent behaviour approaches
- Provide feedback to teaching staff and contribute to behaviour plans
You will be supporting pupils with:
- SEMH needs
- Autism
- ADHD
- Challenging behaviour
- Additional learning needs
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have experience in:
- Sports coaching or physical activity roles
- Residential care or supported living
- Youth work, mentoring, or behaviour support
- Education, PRUs, alternative provisions, or SEN settings
You will also be:
- Confident, calm, and resilient
- Proactive and able to think on your feet
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment
No two days are the same in a PRU, so adaptability and a positive mindset are essential.
