Rotherham Aspire is a Pupil Referral Unit that puts “Building Positive Relationships” at the heart of our provision. We pride ourselves in creating opportunities for all our students. Some of our students are permanently excluded or at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream school and others are referred to us through a partnership arrangement. Some students have Education, Health and Care plans and are awaiting specialist provision.

We have a vacancy within our Safeguarding Team for a Designated Attendance Lead, who will play a key role in ensuring our young people have the support they need to overcome barriers to progress and engage successfully in learning. We are seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced individual to our team to work with families, carers, and in one‑to‑one situations, attend meetings and to offer support in all aspects of the school’s provision.

The successful candidate will need to be:

  • Genuinely committed to supporting the Borough’s most vulnerable young people.
  • A real team player, flexible and adaptable and a genuine all‑rounder.
  • Resilient to be able to work positively with young people who present with challenging behaviours.
  • Able to support and promote school engagement with students who are encountering disruption to their education.
  • Able to recognise the full range of barriers our young people encounter in relation to attendance and promote learning.
  • Professional and able to lead and contribute to meetings.

Rotherham Aspire is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to pre‑employment checks and an enhanced DBS check.

This post involves working with children and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at an enhanced level. Further information about the Disclosure Scheme can be found at

Closing Date: 12pm on Monday 1 st June 2026
