Student Support & Pastoral Officer – Secondary School

Location: Rotherham
Start Date: ASAP & September
Contract Type: Full-Time

An inclusive and ambitious secondary school in Rotherham is looking to appoint a dedicated Student Support & Pastoral Officer to play a key role in supporting pupils’ welfare, attendance, behaviour, and overall engagement with school life. This position is ideal for an individual who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a Student Support & Pastoral Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing pastoral guidance and support to students throughout the school day
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional wellbeing
  • Monitoring attendance, behaviour records, and safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate interventions are put in place
  • Building strong working relationships with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families, and external professionals
  • Supporting pupils who may face social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning challenges
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working within a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding, or student support setting in a secondary school
  • Be confident supporting young people with a range of emotional, behavioural, and additional needs
  • Possess excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Be passionate about making a positive impact on students’ personal growth, wellbeing, and educational success
