Position: 1:1 SEND Teaching assistant for a pupil with medical needs

The school is looking to appoint a full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant on a temporary contract until 31st July 2027, beginning on 2nd September 2026. The successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant will provide dedicated support for a Year 3 pupil with a tracheostomy and significant communication needs, working closely with teaching staff, medical professionals and the child's care team to promote learning, independence, wellbeing and full participation in school life.

The successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant will have:

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, or willingness to work towards this

• Experience supporting children with additional needs within a school setting

• Confidence working as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside teachers, SENDCo and external professionals

• A caring, patient and nurturing approach with excellent communication skills

• A willingness to undertake specialist tracheostomy and medical care training provided by the school

• A positive attitude with the ability to build strong relationships with children, staff and families
