Salary: £90 - £105 per day
Location: Rotherham

We are currently seeking experienced Pastoral Support Officers to join specialist SEMH schools across South Yorkshire for long‑term placements.

The Role

We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and proactive individuals to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ emotional well‑being, helping them engage with learning and develop positive behaviours within a nurturing and structured school setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group pastoral support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, helping them develop strategies to manage emotions and behaviour.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support the implementation of personalised behaviour and intervention plans.
  • Monitor and report on students’ emotional, social, and behavioural development.
  • Liaise effectively with external agencies, parents/carers, and school leaders to ensure joined‑up support.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures to promote the safety and welfare of all pupils.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to managing behaviour.
  • Ability to form strong, positive relationships with students who may have experienced adversity.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, Youth Work, Counselling, or similar) are advantageous but not essential.
