Hours of work are 32.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm term time only.
Contract type:
Temporary until 31 st July 2027 in the first instance.

The Governing Body of Our Lady & St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an outstanding
1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child currently in Year 3 who has a tracheostomy and significant communication needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, experience of working with children with additional needs, and excellent interpersonal skills. They will play a key role in supporting the child's learning, communication, independence and wellbeing, ensuring they are fully included in all aspects of school life.
Our Lady & St Joseph’s is a one form entry Catholic Primary School situated in Wath-upon-Dearne in Rotherham. Our school offers a fantastic environment and developing curriculum for our children and staff, and we are proud of the significant achievements secured – including a strong results track‑record. We have worked hard to develop our outdoor environment and have developed the Forest School approach across all year groups.
We are seeking to employ someone who has:
- Level 2 or equivalent qualifications (or a commitment to beginning this training)
- Experience of working with children
- A kind and caring attitude towards children of all ages
- A good sense of humour and is able to work as part of a team

The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with a tracheostomy and significant communication difficulties. The role includes supporting the child's learning, communication, independence, and wellbeing throughout the school day, as well as assisting with their routine health and care needs. Full training will be provided. Although a trained carer will be present with the child at all times, the Teaching Assistant will play an important role in ensuring the child can fully access learning opportunities and participate in all aspects of school life.
