Assistant Principal

About this Role

Goldthorpe Primary Academy are looking to appoint an Assistant Principal to join our academy as soon as possible on a full time, temporary basis.

As an Assistant Principal, you will form part of the Senior Leadership Team and you will deputise for the Head of Academy in their absence. You will provide proactive support to the Head of Academy, Executive Principal and AAB members to ensure the leadership and management of the academy operates effectively. Your role will be to lead, firstly as a highly effective classroom practitioner that will model outstanding practice as well as undertaking monitoring of the provision, inclusion and achievement for all pupils.

Goldthorpe is a village within the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, in South Yorkshire. Historically within the West Riding of Yorkshire, in ancient times it was a small medieval farming village and is even recorded in the Domesday Book. In later times, Goldthorpe flourished as a coal mining community. Following the closure of the pits and the inevitable increase in levels of socio-economic deprivation that followed, Goldthorpe is now beginning to benefit from regeneration programmes and investment.

Goldthorpe Primary School lies at the heart of the local community. It was located on the previous site since 1903 which means we were there for 113 years! In the summer of 2016 we relocated to our new site and opened our doors in September 2016. There are currently 264 pupils on roll.

Goldthorpe Primary Academy is proud to be at the heart of our local community. With a rich history dating back to 1903, we served generations of families on our original site for over a century before moving to our modern, purpose-built premises in September 2016. Today, we are home to 298 enthusiastic learners.

In your new role you will support the Head of Academy through the provision of financial support and information. You will ensure the academy's financial management is sound and procedures are adhered to with relevant reports submitted to the central Delta finance department in accordance with deadlines.
