Job Description- Learn from experienced engineers, supporting your academic studies while developing skills for your future engineering career.
- Develop new technical and professional skills and gain valuable real‑world engineering experience.
- Gain insight into the wide range of engineering roles and projects across UKAEA.
- Work on a variety of projects, with typical assessment durations ranging from two weeks to three months.
- Contribute to projects supporting JET Decommissioning and Repurposing, MAST‑U, and Fusion Futures.
- Support design and equipment qualification activities within the Engineering Qualification team across UKAEA programmes.
- Apply a range of analysis methods, including static, dynamic, thermal, structural, fluid, and electromagnetic analyses.
- Use industry‑standard simulation tools, including ANSYS and other specialist software.
- Work on projects such as MAST‑U upgrades, STEP fusion power plant concept design, and JET tokamak decommissioning.
- Studying towards a degree in Science or Engineering.
- Confident with all Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Driven, with a strong appetite to learn and take on new challenges.
- Able to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Well organized and adaptable with the ability to plan and prioritise workload.

- £23,810 base salary
- Final salary defined benefit scheme with an equivalent of 21.5% employer pension contribution
