Job Purpose
AESSEAL is one of the worlds leading specialists in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals and seal support systems. Our products are designed to improve the reliability of rotating equipment. Today we employ more than 1750 people and provide customer service from 230 locations in 104 countries. The Test Technician role is an integral part of this team and plays a major part of the global structure.
Based at our Rotherham HQ, the key principles of the role will be to identify, understand and incorporate corrective action on all seal types, both wet and dry, but predominantly dry gas seals. You will be part of a small team working at exceptional high standards of build quality all within a state of the art facility.
As part of a small team, the primary function will be the testing and reporting of a range of AESSEAL products and the associated supporting tasks such as calibration, maintenance and seal/rig preparation, instrumentation, data capture and interrogation which will all be documented in detailed reports.
Principal Accountabilities- Provide hands on support for setting up test equipment, building and dismantling mechanical seals, carrying out routine maintenance of rigs and equipment, and ensuring the correct procedures are followed.
- To deal with all aspects of seal preparation including but not limited to, lapping, shot blasting, cleaning, lasering, measuring and all associated documentation.
- Collect data and observations from tests, interrogate and clearly communicate the findings in the form of a test report to the responsible engineer.
- Ensure tests are carried out in a safe and timely manner.
- Thoroughly strip and inspect returned seals and compile accurate condition reports.
- Communicate with external/internal suppliers and customers clearly and effectively.
- Maintain calibration of key items of instrumentation and maintain traceable history.
- To work as part of the Test House team as well as working independently.
- Work flexibly according to reasonable demands.
- Apprentice trained to ONC level or equivalent
- HNC or above
- Good practical skills
- Good knowledge of mechanical seals (Wet and Dry)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Proficient in the use of key Microsoft Office packages, Word and Excel
- Good organisational skills
- Good communicator
- Knowledge of pumps and compressors
- Understanding of calibration and instrumentation
- Experience with in a workshop environment
- Experience with rotating equipment (manufacturing, design or build)
- Experience with Instrumentation
- Report writing
- Experience with mechanical seals
- Desire to provide exceptional customer service
