Overview
EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a leading precision engineering manufacturer, located in Rotherham, and is currently in the market for a Technical Estimator to join their company on a permanent basis. This market leader is a well-established entity within the precision engineering industries and supports globally recognised customers with safety-critical, highly complex components. The role offers an opportunity for an individual with a strong technical background to transition into a pivotal office-based commercial position.
Responsibilities- Working on costings for various projects.
- Dealing with customer inquiries and providing accurate information.
- Handling quotation requests from inception to completion.
- Chasing up estimates to convert them into orders.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
- Interpreting technical drawings to determine manufacturing methods, time, and cost.
- Collaborating with the purchasing team for bought-in parts and production teams for manufacturing advice.
- Possess a strong technical background, ideally with exposure to machining processes such as CNC machining, turning, routing, and milling.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of technical drawings and how to apply them to estimation.
- Show an interest in the commercial aspects of the business, balancing technical knowledge with customer interaction.
- Be a proactive and dynamic team player, eager to learn from experienced colleagues.
- Work effectively with customers, building rapport and trust.

- A robust technical background, with the ability to understand and interpret complex technical drawings.
- Direct exposure to machining processes (e.g., CNC machining, turning, routing, milling) and manufacturing environments.
- A proven interest in the commercial side of a business, including costings, quotations, and customer relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain customer relationships.
- A dynamic approach to teamwork and a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Ideally, experience in manufacturing and machining, looking to transition into an office-based commercial role.
