What you’ll be doing
  • Establish structures, processes and procedures to deliver legislative compliance for the site and consistency in ways of working across all areas, verifying their implementation and compliance using periodic audits.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team to create a culture that keeps people safe, engaged, focused, developed and delivering to their potential while ensuring reliable manufacturing processes that comply with Food Safety and Health and Safety Standards.
  • Continuously develop and improve the site asset base through effective planning for and financial justification of capital projects necessary to design, construct and install manufacturing processes that improve efficiency and maintain compliance standards.
  • Create and deploy a site engineering strategy, aligned to the Group Greencore Engineering Excellence Vision, supporting the site’s strategic goals and complying with all company and legislative standards.
  • Proactively contribute to product development opportunities by applying and sourcing best‑available technology and automation to create efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes that enhance our market position.
  • Support the energy reduction and sustainability agenda to reduce environmental impacts across the site by ensuring all actions are completed and the project plan is executed.
  • Drive year‑on‑year improvements to deliver higher engineering standards, reducing equipment failures, increasing reliability and uptime, and thereby increasing site capacity.
  • Contribute to the site Leadership team as a functional expert and to the Engineering Leadership Team and engineering forums to ensure engineering solutions support delivery of the business plans.
What we’re looking for
  • Relevant degree calibre (e.g., BEng or equivalent) and membership of a recognised professional body – IET/IMechE, ICT/Institute of Mechanical Engineering.
  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certification with sound knowledge of behavioural safety at a site level.
  • Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing and Best Practice Maintenance.
  • Proven track record of leading an Engineering department with awareness of Legionella Level 8 and HACCP.
  • Experience of creating a Lean enterprise culture.
  • Ability to set, manage and optimise maintenance budgets.
  • Experience in the use and operation of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Project Management skills, ideally with some project management certification.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring and developing engineers and apprentices.
  • Reliability Management expertise (FMECA, RCM, Tribology, CBM, TPM, etc.).
