Balmoral Tanks is looking for a Coatings Engineer to help develop and improve the specialist coating technologies behind our market‑leading products.

You’ll work with advanced Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) and Glass-Fused-to-Steel (GFS) coating systems used in critical infrastructure projects around the world.

This is a hands‑on technical role where your ideas can make a visible impact. You’ll be supported to build deep coating process expertise while working closely with production, quality and technical teams.

• Build expertise in coating processes, monitor performance, resolve issues and capture key knowledge.
• Support new products, testing and improvement projects that make a visible difference to quality and productivity.
• Share technical knowledge, support problem‑solving and help teams make confident, evidence‑based decisions.
• Promote safe working practices and help maintain high quality and industry standards.

You might already be working in coatings, process engineering, manufacturing or materials - or you may have built relevant experience in another technical environment.

• Coatings Engineer, Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Materials Engineer, Surface Treatment Specialist or Technical Development Engineer.

Experience in any of the following would be helpful, but curiosity, problem-solving ability and a willingness to learn are just as important:

• Surface preparation, industrial coatings, FBE systems, enamelling, furnace technology, process improvement, laboratory testing and manufacturing quality systems.

You’ll enjoy this role if you like working with people, data and practical engineering challenges.

• Analysing data, solving technical problems, communicating clearly, working with others, managing priorities and using evidence to improve performance.

A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience would be helpful, but we're also keen to hear from candidates with strong hands‑on technical knowledge and a positive learning mindset.

• Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Surface Coatings Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or Applied Science.
