Payroll Officer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join a busy payroll bureau team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple client payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with current payroll legislation.

• Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients.
• Calculate salaries, statutory payments, deductions and pension contributions.
• Manage payroll changes including starters, leavers, pay increases and employee amendments.
• Submit payroll information to HMRC through RTI.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and company procedures.
• Handle client payroll queries and provide excellent customer service.
• Process year-end payroll activities including P60s and P11
  
  Ds where required.
• Reconcile payroll reports and maintain accurate payroll records.
• Support pension administration and auto-enrolment processes.

• Previous payroll experience, ideally within a payroll bureau environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC rules and statutory payments.
• Experience using payroll systems such as Sage Payroll, Bright Pay or similar.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and workloads.
• Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• CIPP qualification or working towards one.
• Experience managing multiple payrolls simultaneously.
• Knowledge of workplace pensions and auto-enrolment.
