What you'll be doing

As our Driver / Stores person, you'll play a key hands-on role in keeping our Highways and Survey Operations running smoothly. Based at our Thurnscoe depot with travel to project sites across the UK, you'll provide essential depot and mobile support to the team.

Your day-to-day will include a mix of driving, stores management, and operational coordination:

  • Driving company vehicles to deliver and collect stock, plant, equipment, and materials to and from project sites nationwide, ensuring timely arrivals and returns in line with operational requirements
  • Managing and coordinating plant & stock levels across the depot, yard, and workshop – maintaining accurate records, carrying out regular stock checks, and producing comprehensive reports with early warnings on low or strategic stock availability
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, checking incoming goods against advice notes for correct quantities, quality, and damage, and liaising with suppliers to arrange replacements or returns for any faulty items
  • Handling the hiring, acceptance, and off-hiring of plant and equipment, including delivering technical handovers and familiarisation briefings to site teams as needed
  • Managing the calibration of tools and equipment (including lifting equipment) to ensure full compliance and safety
  • Maintaining yard security, controlling access to authorised personnel only
  • Working closely with the Operations team, Business Managers, Yard Foreman, Workshop Team, and mobile fitters to arrange materials for site in support of extended hours working
  • Contributing to a high-performance team culture by collaborating effectively, complying with all company policies and procedures, and promoting positive communication across the business
Who we re looking for
  • Self-motivated and focused, with the ability to stay on task and maintain high standards with minimal supervision
  • An excellent communicator, able to liaise clearly and professionally with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
  • Someone who truly understands the importance of this role and consistently meets its key requirements
  • Comfortable delivering strong results while working to strict deadlines
  • Equally effective working independently or as part of a supportive team
  • Prepared to go the extra mile when needed to ensure outstanding outcomes for the business and our customers
  • Equipped with good business knowledge and a clear understanding of system requirements (processes, stock systems, procedures, etc.)
  • The holder of a full, clean driving licence
