Production Manager
- Location: Rotherham.
- Salary: £60,000 per annum + Bonus scheme.
- Working hours: 38 hours per week, 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and from 8:30am to 3:00pm on a Friday. Flexi-time is available.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational performance, achieving production targets, improving efficiencies, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will have direct responsibility for Production Supervisors and indirect leadership of wider production teams, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of customer orders while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations to achieve production, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly production plans while ensuring on-time customer delivery.
- Analyse production performance data and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Monitor and report on key operational KPIs including OEE, OTD, and production performance metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving techniques.
- Conduct root cause analysis of production issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to ensure smooth operational performance.
- Ensure production schedules are maintained and adjusted where necessary to meet business demands.
- Develop, coach, and manage Production Supervisors and operational teams.
- Set performance objectives, conduct reviews, and identify training and development requirements.
- Implement and maintain robust quality control processes and health & safety standards.
- Support capital investment, automation, and process improvement projects.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturing colleagues across multiple sites.
- Work alongside the senior leadership team to support operational, commercial, and financial objectives.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or Senior Production Supervisor role.
- Strong background within a manufacturing, engineering, machine shop, or industrial production environment.
- Experience managing teams and driving performance through effective leadership.
- Strong understanding of production KPIs, including OEE, productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
- Proven experience in continuous improvement and process optimisation.
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
- Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with automation, machine tools, and modern manufacturing technologies.
- Knowledge of rubber, polymer, or similar manufacturing processes would be advantageous.
