This is a wonderful opportunity for a Deputy Head of Nursing to join Care Group One on a permanent basis and become part of a supportive, forward-thinking team. The role offers the chance to lead a varied and rewarding portfolio, including our state-of-the-art Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, purpose built Medical Same Day Emergency Care, Acute Medical Unit, Short Stay Unit, Frailty, Healthcare of Older People and Stroke Services.

In this important role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across these services, help shape future developments and make a positive difference to patients, families, colleagues and the wider community.

Main

duties of the job

You will help create a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered to deliver consistently high standards of care. Through visible, credible and professional nursing leadership, you will have direct line management responsibility for a team of Matrons and will work closely with the Head of Nursing, Deputy Head of Nursing, General Manager, Deputy General Manager and Divisional Director to support safe, effective and responsive services.

You will lead the quality and governance agenda, including CQC readiness, people management and continuous improvement across your portfolio. The successful applicant will be a confident, approachable and engaging communicator who can support people through change, bring colleagues together and clearly share our ambition to become an outstanding trust. By encouraging fresh thinking and working collaboratively with teams, you will help shape services that provide excellent, compassionate care for the local community we serve.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Diploma / Degree in Nursing / Health related subject
  • Evidence of post registration continuous professional development
  • Evidence of an accredited management/leadership training or evidence of practical application at this level
  • Masters Level or currently studying towards or equivalent experience
  • Teaching qualifications
  • Experience in Medicine
Knowledge
  • Sound knowledge of current nursing issues both nationally, regionally and locally
  • Evidence of working with external stakeholders
  • Understanding of the broad health and social care partnership arrangements including LSCB, LSAB, CCG, PHE etc
  • Evidence of safeguarding knowledge and skills for children young people and vulnerable adults
  • Knowledge of developments in healthcare which affect patient care.
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge in a particular area
  • Awareness of own limitations
Registration
  • Registered General Nurse/ with current NMC registration
Experience
  • Significant proven experience at a senior nurse level (band 8 and above)
  • Significant proven post registration experience including experience in community settings.
  • Experience of multi professional team working
  • Record of successful change management
  • Record of dealing with highly complex, emotive and sensitive information
  • Evidence of developing and introducing new methods of working, including monitoring and evaluating systems
  • Experience of dealing with the safeguarding agenda
