The Role
Join our fast-paced and dedicated food testing laboratory, where accuracy, teamwork and commitment to quality are at the heart of everything we do. As a Laboratory Technician, you will support microbiological testing processes that help ensure food safety and quality for our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys hands‑on work, and takes pride in maintaining high laboratory standards.
Theday to day
- Perform microbiological testing on food samples, including weighing, diluting and preparing samples using aseptic techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic workstation in line with departmental cleaning schedules.
- Prepare and supplement media, conduct volume checks and operate laboratory equipment such as media preparators and pourer stackers.
- Ensure all samples are handled safely and accurately.
- Dispose of waste and clean utensils promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to meet testing deadlines and departmental targets.
- Educated to A level (or equivalent) in a science‑related subject – or with relevant laboratory experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well within a team and respond positively to feedback.
- Reliable and punctual, with a flexible approach to working hours and changing priorities.
- Able to manage workload effectively and meet required deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrates initiative, problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and improvement.
- Annual leave commencing at 25 days (rising to 30) plus 8 public holidays (pro‑rata for part‑time).
